Daeven Wolf
To try and describe the Daeven wolf, one has to try and comprehend the make up of such a being. As they are only creatures of shadow, finding them in the corporeal world is almost non-existent. This does not mean those with the ability to see beyond the corporeal could not see them, as they could indeed, and likely know of their presence lurking in the shadows. They are hunters within their realm, with the capabilities to control the very aspects in which they're made up of. As beings of shadow they prefer the dark, though it's not uncommon to find them lingering upon the edges of light, seeking out some passer by who's foolish enough to traipse into their world unknowingly. These foolish beings are the ones that the shadows typically devour.
This means, of course, should you come across one, and it actually be there within the physical planes, it's likely due to it being bound, or anchored to something within the physical realm. Rarely such an anchoring or binding can be to an object, most commonly it is to a living person. One of two things happen when this binding or anchoring takes place with a living being. Either they take the place of the being's shadow, or they become a form in which their anchored being can be. For example the being they are bound/anchored to, find themselves with the unique capability of becoming something else, typically wolf, during this process. No matter how it works, the Daeven will essentially anchor itself enough that it becomes one with their 'host'. Once this takes place, they are no longer two separate beings. What starts out as a symbiotic relationship between two creatures, becomes a metamorphosis of one. With the Daeven commonly being dominant and thus almost taking over the other without issue.
There are a few Daeven wolves who are born already bound to a physical body. These, however, are only those who are descendants of the deity La'Ryl, who is the deity of cunning, shadow, and stealth. Those who are, typically bear the one physical trait of the Daeven that sets them apart from other Elves around them, and that is their piercing red eyes. These elves are typically born with the innate abilities of the Daeven, as well as taking a Daeven form from a young age, if not being born Daeven upon birth. No matter whether the mother is or is not Daeven herself.
